About Simona
Why did you choose this program?
I was and still am passionate about seaweed diversity in Northern California. Prof Frank Shaughnessy and I agreed on an interesting thesis project.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
This program exposed me to doing research, collecting analyzing and presenting data and local, national and international conferences and collaborating with folks from various backgrounds.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
Field work was fantastic and forced me to explore beautiful intertidal of northern California and Southern Oregon to catalogue the seaweed diversity in the area.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
Enjoy and be prepared to be self motivated to complete the research.
