About Robert

Why did you choose this program?

I chose the English Language Arts major because I wanted to become a high school English teacher.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

I taught elementary for two years and high school English for nine years. The program prepares me with adolescent theory, literary theory, pedagogical theory, and early practice. Close reading served me well in both my teaching career and subsequent degree programs.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed the interdisciplinary nature of my courses with Christina Accomando and my early examination of pedagogy with Nikola Hobbel.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

I would urge them to please consider this program if they want to approach education from a critical perspective, especially if they are connected to professors Accomando and Hobbel.
