About nayra

Why did you choose this program?

I added this program on top of my History degree. My focus in History was Latin America, a Spanish degree perfectly supplemented my learning experience and also taught me valuable skills like translating primary documents.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

I am in a school district that serves predominantly English Language Learners whose first language is Spanish. My Spanish degree allows me to deliver accurate information and properly assist students who need additional help because of language barriers.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed building connections with faculty. They are very approachable and have been of huge help, even after graduation!

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

A Spanish degree is very helpful for the 21st century. It can open the door to new cultures and job opportunities. For those confident in their Spanish language, it can really improve their knowledge of the language by properly developing academic language and providing more exposure to literature.
