About Nathaniel
How did this program prepare you for your job?
The Spanish program prepared me for my performance career by giving me tons of public speaking practice. When I first started in the program I was incredibly nervous every time I had to present something or speak to the whole class. Over the course of the program, I became much more comfortable being in front of people, even if I was making mistakes because I knew I would be supported by both my peers and professors. Additionally, the program enabled me to perform my show in Spanish and work easily with Spanish-speaking circus artists and companies. Due to that, I have performed throughout Central America, worked in a traveling Guatemalan circus, and started a circus education program at Los Patojos in Guatemala.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I enjoyed the relationships with my peers and professors the most. The study abroad program is a very close second!
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
I would say to be sure to get to know your professors. They have lived very interesting lives, traveled all over, some have written books, and they have a ton of lived experiences that you can learn from that they don't necessarily share with you in their lectures.
Also, definitely always wear shoes in Professor Bintrup's classes.
