About Jonathon

Why did you choose this program?

I chose the Journalism program at HSU because I was interested in sports broadcasting. The program included participating in KRFH which was my introduction to radio broadcasting.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

The mass communication element of the program helped prepared me for my job as a D1 collegiate coach. The dedicated department staff taught me a lot about connecting with people and educating others. I continue to carry that sense of connection and relationship building into my current career path.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed the practicality of the program in relation to gaining first-hand experience. Being able to apply methods learned in the classroom to internships and projects in the community was a unique aspect of the experience.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

The program is a community worth investing in. It will develop you into the best version of yourself regardless of your career path. The results will match the commitment to the program.
