About Hahn

Why did you choose this program?

I had my sights set on Humboldt for the amazing math program, teaching credential program, and the Women's Rowing team. I left my job of 15 years as a wildland firefighter to become a math teacher and row on with women's Crew.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

Humboldt's math department has some of the most caring, supportive, and inclusive faculty and staff. I learned from them who I want to be as a math teacher. I was challenged and pushed every day to realize my full potential. My growth as a student in this program led to my growth as a teacher.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed most the relationships with my professors and cohort. I loved the collaborative whiteboard sessions, study groups, and office hours where I shared many tears and triumphs.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

Cal Poly Humboldt has a wonderful math department. They care about your success and make themselves available to support you. The best advice I can give is to take full advantage of your professors' office hours and find a study group. Math is the best when you math with friends. You can learn so much from your peers.
