Job description: As an Environmental Scientist for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's North Central Region, I am responsible for all grazing permit and agriculture lease management on CDFW owned unstaffed lands across 17 different counties. I am also the hunt program manager at the Cosumnes River Ecological Reserve for turkey and deer on CDFW owned lands.

How did this program prepare you for your job?
The Rangeland Resource Science program prepared me for all aspects of my job, most importantly by teaching me the most effective way to work with several partners, and to precisely and accurately collect data that is pertinent to achieving your end goal of conservation.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
The hands-on experience that I gained in the Rangeland Resource Science program was what I enjoyed the most.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
Apply to this program only if you want to learn a lot, make great friends, and want to be prepared for a job after graduation. This program helped me kick start my career in rangeland management, and anyone who has a passion for conservation I would expect to have the same experience.
