About Corrina

Why did you choose this program?

The faculty in this program continue to celebrate the intersectional feminist scholarship and literature that I was most interested in using for my own scholarship. The English MA program encouraged, enhanced, and even fostered interdisciplinarity in research and practice.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

The key skill I bring to every table is my ability to analyze, imagine, and craft a narrative. Whether I am designing an outreach campaign or a scholarship program, my ability to craft a persuasive and cohesive narrative scaffolds any new programmatic vision.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I am ever grateful to the English MA program for is my academic community. Oftentimes, as a first-generation college student, academia can be lonely and isolating. HSU’s English MA program and the faculty and students involved in it provide a support network and scholarly network that fosters community and connection.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

Every post-baccalaureate experience can feel scary and overwhelming, sometimes even lonely. This program challenges you as a researcher and scholar, but more importantly, it supports you and fosters a community that goes beyond the classroom. Every faculty member wants to maintain a supportive scholarly relationship and invests in you as a whole human, scholar, and researcher.
