About Cole
Why did you choose this program?
Humboldt called out to me because of the hands-on undergraduate program for their marine sciences. There were few institutions where opportunities like working in a marine lab and working for NOAA on an ocean sampling line were available for undergraduate students.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
The program greatly prepared me for the job I am working today. Not only the Humboldt oceanography curriculum prepared me but the opportunity to work on the RV/Coral Sea as a TA, TA for the physical oceanography course, and lab assistant at the Trinidad marine lab.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I enjoyed the countless hours on the research vessel, the commitment and helpfulness of the staff that always made themselves available, and of course the beautiful stretch of coastline we were lucky enough to study.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
I would greatly recommend applying and visiting the facilities prior to committing. It’s a very easy place to fall in love with and the small size of the program makes it easy to get to know your professors!
