About Christina

Why did you choose this program?

During my graduate studies in Education I had a emphasis in Spanish which required me to take a certain number of units in upper division Spanish.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

I am a Spanish teacher therefore this program provided additional creative ideas for my arts-based curriculum.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

The Latin Film Festival was the thing I enjoyed the most about this program. The invitation of a guest speaker from Spain was a special arrangement. I also loved that Professor Dean allowed me to submit a painting in response to the three films that were featured during the film festival in tandem with a written response. He was very supportive of my Arts Education emphasis and arranged for me to speak and present the painting to some of the other professors in the Spanish department.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

The HSU Spanish Department is made outstanding by the creative professors who teach within it. From playwrights to poets and those who have an affinity for travel and film, to those who are dedicated to their craft as academics is what you will find in this vivacious department.
