About Asha

Why did you choose this program?

I liked that it was a small department where I could be close to faculty and other students.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

Working on Toyon helped to prepare me for collaborative work. I also had the opportunity to take classes in the education track that gave me a leg up while teaching in grad school. I came with some pedagogical ideas.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed how close of a department we were because of the smallness. I had a lot of great and talented classmates and loved learning from everyone’s unique perspectives.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

Get involved. Work on Toyon! Take writing classes if you’re not a writer, take teaching classes if you’re not a teacher, take classes with Janelle Adsit, Heal McKnight, Christina Accomando, and Janet Winston!
