Job description: I forecast the demand for PPE and other supply needs across all regions of Kaiser Permanente services. This includes various data analyses to capture trends as well as communicating with vendors about the supply level requirements. I create data flows and dashboard, and manage a data library to provide live reporting for other teams to utilize analyses in real time.

Why did you choose this program?
I explored multiple classes in previous schools before deciding on mathematics. I have always enjoyed the logic of math and the environment Arcata provides is ideal for those that enjoy tighter-knit communities.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
After receiving my B.A. I went on to get my M.S. in Statistics. This program prepared me for the rigorous coursework in grad school. In both programs, the statistics and modeling courses have helped with forecasting demand as well as understanding data cleansing's importance. Overall, the program prepared me for any type of problem-solving when there is no clear solution, both in technical aspects as well as business processes.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
The professors are amazing and knowledgeable both in their field and with their willingness and excitement to help others learn. I enjoyed the smaller class sizes and the ability to create more personal relationships with classmates and professors without sacrificing on the academic side. The math department has a lovely community in Arcata that I really enjoyed while being away from home.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
The program itself is awesome. The department is great at fostering community and providing assistance where needed, making it easy to get involved. Be prepared for the distance and overall small town feel of living in the area. I thrived in that setting but it's not something everyone is prepared for when coming from large metropolitan areas.
