Frankie Baker
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2011
After graduating, Frankie Baker opened a NY Style Bakery, serving the local community up until selling it in 2022. The skills, community, and support that were gained while earning their degree, combined with life experience and being an entrepreneur, have brought Baker to their next journey/career in the mental health/social work field. They now work as a Youth Prevention Specialist in School-Based Wellness Centers at various school sites within Humboldt County. They will forever be grateful to the CRGS program for providing them with a solid foundation as they continue serving their community.
Kimiko Nishitsuji
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2016
After graduating with a degree in CRGS I'm 2016, Kimiko Nishitsuji spent the last three years as a county eligibility worker at the County of Humboldt. Prior to that, she served as the Patient Benefits Coordinator at Mad River Community Hospital. She recently relocated back to LA County and is the Medi-Cal Enrollment Specialist for WelbeHealth PACE, providing case management for medically complex at risk elders. She lives with her partner Patrick Notthoff (2012) and her cat Mr. Mochi.
Holly Lemyre

Holly has had the unique pleasure of applying the toolkit gained in her CRGS degree to a field she'd never heard of before graduation: pelvic health. She's spent the last two and a half years working at Origin, a femtech startup committed to changing the future of health for individuals with a vaginal pelvic floor.
Tai Parker
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality StudiesMulticultural Queer Studies/Psychology, 2016
After graduating, Tai Parker, Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality and Psychology, 2016, earned a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and went on to become the Trans Health Case Manager for Open Door Community Health Center. Parker says " I would not have gone down this path had it not been for my experiences in the CRGS department, surrounded by a culture of acceptance and constant critical thought. The base knowledge I learned in the CRGS department opened my eyes and gave me words to experiences I had, and a path into how I wanted to see change happen in my immediate community."
Diana Argueta
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2017
Diana Argueta, Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2017, returned to the world of immigrant rights after many years of being away, and she loves it! She is am currently a social worker case managing two programs housing children in custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. She advocates for children who have no one to care for them in their country of origin or in the U.S. as they start their life over in this country and apply for political asylum.
Janine Silvis
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2012
Janine Silvis, Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2012, is the Coordinator for Residential Education for College Ten at UC Santa Cruz. After graduating, Silvis served four years as a student affairs administrator at UCLA, UC Berkeley, and the University of Oregon and then obtained a Masters of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration at the University of Vermont. Silvis applies their experiences and education to formulate interdisciplinary approaches to ending campus sexual assault, developing residential curriculum, and supporting minoritized students in higher education. Silvis has recieved several awards and recognition for national conference presentations and has published in scholary journals.
Kamilah Barajas
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2015
Kamilah Barajas, 2015 Critical Race, Gender, and Ethnicity Studies, is on the steering committee for Next Generation Eureka, a nonprofit that works to make Eureka, Calif., a more attractive place for young adults. Barajas worked at North Star Quest Camp for girls following graduation and just recently started at North Coast Rape Crisis Team as a full-time Client Advocate.
Cherrish Robinson
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2014
Cherrish Robinson, ’14 Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, is graduating this May from Michigan State University with a M.A. in Student Affairs Administration. Cherrish is currently looking for jobs. Robinson wishes to pursue a career in the education pipeline (both K-12 and Post-secondary education), specifically in the administrative or policy related capacity. Within higher education, Robinson is interested in the functional areas of multicultural student affairs, TRIO/EOP, student success and retention, transfer student services, and academic advising. Robinson is also searching in the non-profit realm with a focus on community capacity building, K-12 education reform, high education access and preparation, and diversity and inclusion training and education.

Tamara Iraheta, 2015 Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, currently works as an Americorp member in the Louisiana Delta Service Corps based in New Orleans. Iraheta is a Community Engagement Coordinator at a non-profit organization call STAR (Sexual Trauma Awareness & Response). Ihareta’s position focuses on social change on issues that surround sexualized violence.
