Sociology Students Travel to Seattle

Five faculty and 16 students from the Sociology department attended The Pacific Sociological Association’s 94th Annual Conference, in Seattle, Washington March 30th -April 2.

The focus of the conference was ‘We Will Do Better’ and Other Myths: Social Institutions and the Maintenance of Oppression. The students were encouraged to examine issues through research, teaching, activism, and public sociology.
Participants from the Sociology department included 3 Soc rad MA students, 13 undergraduates from Sociology and Criminology and Justice Studies. There were also 3 SOC MA Alumni attend who are in PhD programs.
Student travel to the event was supported by the CAHSS, IRA (PSA Field Trip Course), and the Department of Sociology Trust.
