Job description: My emphasis is in Dietary Supplement Quality Management. I am involved in implementing process controls to ensure products sold to consumers are meeting and exceeding FDA regulations.
As an assistant, I lead my team to ensure these tasks are executed efficiently for the business: Quality of Product development, document control, testing protocols, audits and manufacturer communication.

Aside from being an assistant, I am also a consultant dedicated to Herbal chemistry research/formulation and Quality process implementation.

Why did you choose this program?

The environment and culture drew me to HSU! I loved being encapsulated in nature and being far away from any cities. The chemistry department fit my criteria of what I was looking for in a class setting. They were small to medium sized classes and the professors were passionately involved with the subjects they taught! Professors were always available for questions and clarity on any aspect of the information they were provided.

Also, the program was filled with so many opportunities to be involved in! From undergraduate researching to participating in local events to provide chemistry knowledge to community.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

Class assignments dedicated to in-depth research and reporting is now essential to my everyday duties. Writing so many reports has made me proficient at writing process controls, research papers, and quality proposals.

Also, communicating chemistry concepts to the community and my co-workers effectively, assisted me by providing credibility and advancing proposed projects to implementation.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I love the relationships I’ve developed with my peers and my professors! To this day, I love seeing the continual successes coming to their lives and it all started with the experiences, knowledge and support we acquired from the HSU chemistry department!

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

All the knowledge obtained from all your classes will apply to your career in one way or another and can lead you into so many opportunities! Participate in any programs that you are passionate about with any time you have available. Participation will provide you the foundation to show your credibility to prospective employers in your future and help you figure out what you want to dedicate your time in when you enter the workforce. Being passionate and interested in your area of expertise will always motivate you to achieve your goals and just make you happy to be where you’re at!
