About Ani

Why did you choose this program?

Choosing the CRGS program was an easy decision for me. From the moment I took my first CRGS class the summer before starting my undergrad, I felt a deep connection to the material, and it allowed me to continue expanding my passion for social justice. Ultimately, I could not envision a future for myself that didn't include this program because of its centrality in my learning experience, and the development of my identity.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

My background in CRGS is incredibly beneficial as I move through the Counseling MA program. I think that it allows me to bring a different perspective that centers intersectionality to the field of Psychology. Having developed a critical lens and an understanding of how people’s intersecting identities affect their experiences within society are both pivotal in how I interact with clients. I believe that earning my CRGS degree was an important step in preparing me to become a therapist and gives me a unique frame of reference.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

This is a one of a kind program that will offer you such a wide breadth of critical knowledge. Even if you don't enroll as a CRGS major, still take some of the classes, I promise they will be informative no matter what you're studying! Each professor has something so important to offer! This program was wonderfully transformative for me, and if you are passionate about social justice, you will absolutely enjoy being a part of this community.
