Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing

New applications for the Certificate in Geospatial Sciences are not being accepted for the 2013-2014 academic year. Please contact the department for information on when new applications will be accepted.

This certificate is a post-baccalaureate program cooperatively administered by the departments of Computing Science, Environmental Science and Management, and Forestry and Wildland Resources. The goal of the program is to prepare students to apply the technologies of GIS and multispectral remote sensing, including digital image processing, to various disciplines. The program provides students an opportunity to focus and document training in GIS, remote sensing, and related spatial analysis technologies. Course themes include:

Wildland Fire Management

This certificate is designed for those wishing to enhance or upgrade knowledge and skills in managing wildland fuels, prescribed fire, fire suppression, and fire ecology. Students can supplement previously taken college courses to help qualify for employment with various agencies and companies that manage wildlands. Course themes include:
