So you've decided to visit Cal Poly Humboldt! Now, it's time to plan your trip. Use our guide to figure out how to get here, where to stay and eat, and what to do in Humboldt. Safe travels—we look forward to seeing you!

Arrive by Air

The California Redwood Coast - Humboldt County Airport (ACV) is about a ten-minute drive from campus. Check out their website to see which airlines it is serviced by. There are also car rentals available at the airport.

Drive to Humboldt

Arcata is located on U.S. Highway 101. It takes about six hours to drive to Arcata from San Francisco or Sacramento. Watch for the Cal Poly Humboldt off-ramp and signs to the campus.

Campus tours start from the Student & Business Services Building.

Arrive by Bus

Note: There are NO TRAIN SERVICES to Arcata.

Both Greyhound and Amtrak bus lines service the Arcata Transit Center. After you arrive in Arcata, you can take an Arcata & Mad River Transit System (A&MRTS) bus from the Arcata Transit Center to campus. Amtrak also directly serves Cal Poly Humboldt at the College Creek Soccer Field Bus Stop.

Getting to the Bus Terminal from San Francisco Airport (SFO)

SFO is 16 miles south of Downtown San Francisco, which is where you will catch the bus.

From SFO, you can take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) or a Taxi to the bus station. If you take BART, get off at the Embarcadero Station. See a map of the route. If you take a taxi, the Transbay Temporary Terminal is located at 200 Folsom Street #100, San Francisco, CA 94105.

While you’re visiting us, there are many other community activities taking place throughout the weekend. Be sure to plan some time for exploring the area!

Parking Information

Parking permits are required Monday-Thursday 7:00 am - 10:00 pm, and Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Parking fees are not required on Fridays after 5:00 pm or on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you have scheduled a campus visit, please visit the Parking Kiosk, located on Rossow Street. Let them know you are here for a campus tour, and they will give you a parking permit for the day. If you visit on your own, daily parking permits are available to purchase with a credit/debit card from one of the parking permit dispensers located throughout the campus, with cash or a credit/debit card at the Parking Kiosk in front of the Student & Business Services building, or via the Passport app.

Daily General permits and parking meter fees can be paid via the Passport app.
