WINTER WISHES: GIVE TO A CHILD IN NEED

November 12, 2015

Sign-ups are now being taken for Winter Wishes, an HSU program that offers staff, faculty, and students the chance to brighten the holidays for over 100 local children.

Through the program, local organizations provide holiday wish lists from underprivileged children. Sponsors on campus use the lists to buy gifts for the children, which are then wrapped and delivered.

To sign up, and for more information, visit forever.humboldt.edu/winterwishes.

Individuals and groups that participate should expect to spend $50-$100 for each child. Signups are due no later than Dec. 4, and the unwrapped gifts need to be dropped off no later than Dec. 11.

Volunteers are also needed to help wrap gifts. The wrapping party will be Monday, Dec. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Goodwin Forum.

Organizations that will be participating this year include:

HSU Student-Parents
Eureka Women’s Shelter
MAC House (homeless shelter)
North Coast Veterans Resource Center
Serenity Inn (alcohol & drug care services)
Youth Services Bureau (temporary and long-term transitional youth housing)

Forever Humboldt – the Humboldt State Association – is proud to once again organize and sponsor Winter Wishes. The effort began through the efforts of retired HSU employee Bill Clem, who led it for 20 years and continues to volunteer to help make it successful.
