(August 27, 2014) – The California State University (CSU) and the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) have reached a tentative agreement on a multi-year successor contract.  The agreement, which covers 15,000 employees working in health care support, operations support, administrative support, and technical support on the 23 CSU campuses, will be in effect through June 30, 2017.

"This agreement places a significant emphasis on employee compensation as a percentage of the new revenues allocated to the CSU by the state.  To maintain the highest level of quality education and services that our students have come to expect, it was critical for the CSU to address employee compensation in a way that allows us to remain competitive in the market," said CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White.  "While state support resources remain limited, under this agreement, the CSU provides competitive compensation increases immediately, as well as strong compensation growth over the next two years for our outstanding employees.  I am pleased that we were able to work cooperatively with CSUEU to find common ground and reach a multi-year comprehensive agreement.”

The agreement will provide a three percent general salary increase for all employees represented by CSUEU, effective July 1, 2014. It also provides for two percent general salary increases in each of the subsequent two years, which is in line with projected increases in the CSU’s general fund allocation as outlined in the governor’s multi-year funding plan for that time period.

The agreement will become effective upon ratification by the CSU Board of Trustees and CSUEU membership.
