Teaching (Un)Comfortable Topics in the Classroom ~ March 30

March 1, 2017

The Department of Critical Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the Department of Native American Studies at HSU are partnering with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) to host a pedagogy roundtable on "Teaching (Un)Comfortable Topics in the Classroom." The event will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 9-11 am in the Scholar's Lab on the third floor of the Library. During the roundtable, faculty from various disciplines and institutions in the region will discuss a range of issues to engage students and faculty in meaningful exchange about trauma, identity, violence, and discrimination. Beginning at 12:00pm, there will also be a Discussion Forum, during which you will have the chance to meet with USHMM staff to talk about the Museum's educational resources and the opportunities to develop programs for students and faculty. We hope that you'll be able to join us for as much of the day's events as possible! Please see the schedule of events provided for more information, including a list of presenters who will speak during the roundtable. Please distribute the flyer and schedule together, as the flyer is missing mention of the Discussion Forum scheduled from 12:00-2:00pm.

Please feel free to contact either myself (Maral.Attallah@humboldt.edu) or Kerri Malloy (Kerri.Malloy@humboldt.edu) with any questions.
