Taylor Mitchell Named Campbell Trophy Semifinalist

IRVING, Texas –
 Humboldt State senior linebacker and team captain Taylor Mitchell was named a semifinalist Thursday for the National Football Foundation's 2015 Campbell Trophy.
 
The North Bend, Wash., native was one of 135 football student-athletes from NCAA FBS, FCS, Division II, III and NAIA levels selected as a Campbell Trophy semifinalist. Mitchell is one of only two Great Northwest Athletic Conference representatives on the list.
 
Award candidates had to be a senior of graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability and strong leadership and citizenship.
 
Mitchell has compiled 18 total tackles for the No. 17-ranked HSU football team, and he has started all three games this season. The senior also has a 3.9 GPA and is majoring in business with a minor in economics.
 
The Lumberjacks travel to face South Dakota Mines on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT.
