Sustainable Futures Speaker Series

April 9, 2018

As part of the Sustainable Futures Speaker Series, Dominic Corva will present "Rethinking the Nature of Cannabis and Social Policy in the Context of Post-Prohibition."

Dominic Corva is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Cannabis and Social Policy, and an affiliate researcher for the Humboldt Institute of Interdisciplinary Marijuana Research. In this talk, he will address drug reform within the context of post-prohibition (i.e. legalization "with prohibition" rather than "after prohibition"), arguing that for drug policy reform, legalization is necessary but insufficient as an instrument of social policy. His presentation will also address implications for environmental regulation associated with post-prohibition cannabis landscapes.

The Sustainable Futures Speaker Series is presented by Humboldt State University’s Environment & Community Graduate Program, the Schatz Energy Research Center, and the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.

The presentation will take place Thursday, April 19, at 5:30 p.m. in Founders Hall 118.
