April 26, 2016

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior pitcher Katie Obbema, junior pitcher Madison Williams and sophomore outfielder Hanna Holland represent the Humboldt State softball team as three of 25 finalists for Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year honors.

The Lumberjacks lead the way with three selections on the list, followed by North Georgia with two. HSU is the only California Collegiate Athletic Association program with a representative on the prestigious list.

"I can't be happier for Katie, Maddie and Hanna," said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett. "It is an honor for anybody to be in consideration for this award. These three are performing well and have brought recognition to themselves and the program. Our success has been a team effort, and we couldn't have achieved what we have without them."
