Second Open Forum on Post-Election Campus Climate

February 7, 2017

Location: Goodwin Forum
Date and time: Thursday, February 9, Noon to 1 p.m.

Campus community:

Please join us for a second campus-wide Open Forum to voice concerns about issues of inclusivity and safety on campus post-election. This event is intended for all members of the campus community.

This will be a follow-up to the Open Forum held on November 17. That event far surpassed our expectations, with more than 300 people attending. Working in small groups, people answered two questions:

  • What are your concerns, worries, anxieties, or needs today? and
  • What does support look like to you?

People wrote their feedback down on paper and also gave verbal reports.

The purpose of this Second Open Forum is for us to report back on what has happened since then, which includes:

  • Transcription and posting of all the written feedback,
  • Identification of emergent themes and actions,
  • Actions taken, and
  • Recent receipt of funding to host further structured dialogues.

Please join us at this session to learn more about the feedback, the assessment, actions taken since November, and plans for moving forward.

Sincerely,

Rich Boone, Dean, College of Natural Resources & Sciences
Noah Zerbe, Interim Dean, College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
Chris Hopper, Interim Dean, College of Professional Studies
