Replacing Network Equipment Across Campus

December 21, 2016

Starting on January 6, 2017, ITS will be replacing network equipment in all HSU buildings. For each building, the wireless access equipment will be replaced and verified to be working first, to ensure maximum available connectivity during the replacement process.

The work will take place over the next two months. You’ll find a complete schedule of buildings and outage windows on the ITS website at www.humboldt.edu/its/access-layer-cutover-schedule.

It is not expected that any individual outage will be longer than five minutes within the window of time shown on the schedule. For this reason, there’s no need to contact the help desk unless your network or internet access has been unavailable for 10 or more minutes and rebooting the system does not fix things.

Once it’s all done, both our wired and wireless networks will be significantly faster.

Contact the technology help desk at x4357 with any questions.
