Potential Server Outage at 10 p.m.

This past Saturday, HSU's data center, which houses all of the campus servers, experienced a power loss and a subsequent failure of both our backup power systems. IT and Facilities staff worked quickly to restore services.

We have a technician onsite today to certify that the problem with our backup battery is fixed. To ensure that this is resolved and that we can sustain a future power outage, we will be simulating a power loss tonight at 10pm.

While we do not anticipate any problems, it is possible that you could lose access to campus services at 10pm tonight. This includes your ability to log in to campus services, access your U drive, change your password, access Nolij, OBI, etc. If you are already logged into services such as Canvas or Gmail, your service would remain uninterrupted in the event of a failure.

If you believe that you are seeing a negative effect of Saturday's outage, please contact the Technology Help DeskĀ at 826-4357 or visit humboldt.edu/techhelp. If you had previously forwarded a phone line to voicemail or to another extension, you will need to set up that forward again.
