Moving to Windows 10 and Office 2016

October 5, 2016

As we begin the transition to Windows 10 and Office 2016 in all teaching and learning spaces on campus, ITS will be expanding the pilot deployment of Windows 10, starting with four computer lab locations for the Spring 2017 semester. This will give us the opportunity to get feedback and resolve any issues before rolling out the upgrades across all teaching and learning spaces for the Fall of 2017.

The Spring 2017 pilot rooms will be BSS 317, HGH 115, SH 118, and SH 119.

If you teach in any of these rooms, we encourage you to run your lesson plans against the upgraded software. You can do this in one of the following ways:

  • Schedule time in Library 121 by emailing Cheryl Conner in the Library. You can check availability of the room from this calendar link.

  • Visit the Lbrary122 open lab, which is available during Library open hours

  • Log on to the HSU virtual lab environment (coming soon!) from your home or office computer.

For the discipline-specific labs transition, we will work closely with respective departments and faculty during the spring term. This will provide students with the best possible experience by ensuring that all of the discipline-specific applications run correctly.

If you are concerned about the compatibility of a specific application, plugin or hardware component, please contact Cade Webb at a.cade.webb@humbold.edu or David Marshall  at david.marshall@humboldt.edu
