Marijuana is Prohibited at HSU

January 16, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

This is to remind you that the use or possession of marijuana remains prohibited on campus.

At the federal level, it is illegal to possess or use marijuana for recreational or medicinal purposes.  So although the recreational use of marijuana is now legal in the state of California, possession and/or use of marijuana on any of the 23 California State University campuses, including Humboldt State University, is still prohibited.

It is imperative that the University abides by the federal laws related to marijuana. Not doing so could jeopardize the federal funding that the University receives such as grants and contracts, as well as student federal financial aid.

Thank you,

Wayne Brumfield
Interim Vice President, Student Affairs
