MANDATORY TITLE IX AND SaVE ACT TRAINING

August 18, 2015

Title IX and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (SaVE) mandate that the CSU educate students, faculty, and staff on the prevention of rape, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (CSU Executive Order 1095).  To that end, and in consultation with all bargaining agents, the Chancellor’s Office has developed a mandatory on-line course designed to train all members of the campus community on how to recognize and report sexual misconduct, including harassment and violence.

Similarly, all employee and students have a legal and ethical right to be part of an educational and work environment that is free from illegal harassment, discrimination, and retaliation (CSU Executive Order 1096).  Therefore all employees also will be assigned to an on-line course that will focus on helping the university maintain a respectful working and educational environment.

The two mandatory trainings will be accessed online through SkillPort.  All HSU employees will receive an e-mail message with additional information. You may begin taking these courses prior to receiving the email notification by accessing the Skillport link and logging in with your standard HSU username and password.   The names of the relevant courses are listed at the end of this announcement.

For additional information about Title IX, please visit the HSU Title IX website. For questions about this training requirement, please contact me or Training Compliance Officer, Scott.Kasper@humboldt.edu.  For questions regarding SkillPort, please contact Training and Professional Development at 707-826-5716.

Thank you for your attention to this very important obligation that is shared by all members of our campus community.
