Loss of Student Amanda Williams and Alumnus Daniel Pudlicki

July 16, 2015
Dear friends,

I am deeply saddened to tell you of the loss of two members of our University community: HSU freshman Amanda Williams and a recent graduate, Daniel Pudlicki. On behalf of the University, I extend our deepest condolences to their families and friends.

Amanda Williams, 19, died July 8 from traumatic injuries. A Wildlife major, Amanda was an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) student who worked at the Circulation Desk in the Library. She is remembered as a friendly, caring, and vivacious woman who loved working with animals. An on-campus memorial event for Amanda is planned for this fall.

Daniel Pudlicki, 23, died July 2 from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident. This past May, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology. Daniel was as an outdoor enthusiast and he is remembered for his warmth, positive attitude and incredible smile. Faculty who worked closely with Daniel remember him as a friendly, outgoing, and caring individual who particularly excelled as a team leader. Also, his family has many ties to HSU. Daniel’s brother, Aaron, will be a freshman at HSU in the fall, his father is a Forestry alumnus, and his mother is a Liberal Studies and Education Credential alumna. Daniel’s uncle, Rocky Waters, is a campus employee.

The passing of these two vibrant young people is difficult for the University community, and our thoughts are with them and their loved ones.

Any students interested in additional support during this time are encouraged to contact the Dean of Students office at 707.826.3504 or visit that office in Siemens Hall 211.

Sincerely yours,

Lisa A. Rossbacher, Ph.D.
President
