Interim Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Named

January 19, 2017

19 January 2017

To the University community:

I am pleased to announce that John Capaccio is joining – actually, re-joining – HSU for the spring semester to serve as interim Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, reporting directly to me.  John is not new to this role; he filled this same interim position before, from 2009 to 2011.  During his 35+ years at HSU, John also held positions of Director of Housing, Director of Academic Resources, Director of Residential Life, and Director of the Emergency Operations Center.  He retired from HSU in 2014, and we are fortunate that he is willing to help us on an interim basis this semester;  he is on the job starting today.

As the interim Associate Vice President, John will be responsible for the registrar’s office, financial aid, and recruiting, admissions and new student programs.  His immediate focus will be on converting applications to enrollments, by increasing the yield of students who have been accepted for Fall 2017, but I have also asked him to work with the entire University community to expand the pipeline for applicants and prospective students.  As John reaches out across campus to engage our community, please provide him all the assistance you can.

John holds bachelors degrees in zoology and economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Masters in Education from Colorado State University.

John will serve in this interim role as we continue the search for a regular appointment to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.  Vice President Peg Blake will focus on enrollment strategies for the future, as well as early outreach programs and other areas in student affairs.

Please join me in welcoming John back to HSU.

Sincerely yours,

Lisa A. Rossbacher, Ph.D.
President
