An important message from University Librarian Katia Karadjova

August 17, 2018

Hello CNRS Faculty,

I hope you’ve had a relaxing summer!

As usual, with the semester starting I would like to share some new information and to remind you about the available Library services and resources. The Library is pleased to support you and your students in a number of ways:

Library/Information Literacy (IL) instruction:  If you would like to schedule in-person instruction sessions for your students, please, contact me as soon as possible. I will try my best to accommodate your preferable dates as usual. I will appreciate if you provide me with your syllabus and assignment in advance to be able to tailor the instruction accordingly. I am, also, attaching the Fall 2018 Menu of Instruction Infographic, in case you would like to check the pre-designed instruction options we offer.

Textbooks on Reserve: The Library provides a number of textbooks on Reserve. Please, check if your required textbook is available and let your students know. A lot of our students are struggling with affording textbooks and the opportunity to use one for free will make a huge difference.

Here are the links to the ONCORES Request Form and the Print Reserve Request Form.

Embedding library resources in course content is a very effective way to advance Information Literacy. A quick examples: In your Syllabus and on Canvas Course pages: Link/URL to Subject Research LibGuide(s). Of course, I am available to work with you on any other desirable options.

SkillShops: You are welcome to have your students attend any of the offered SkillShops.

Purchasing suggestions: for books & videos: e-mail me or use the Suggestion for Purchase Form. Here is some very useful information about eBooks.

For more information about our services important to faculty, visit the Library Services for Faculty page.

Please, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments. I am available to attend departmental meetings or other opportunities within your department to connect and collaborate. If you prefer to stop by sometime when you are in the Library, you can find my new office on the Library 1st floor, Room 111D. You can also encourage students to drop by and see me at the Research Help Desk during the hours listed on the Subject Research LibGuide(s).

Have a wonderful semester!

Your librarian,
Katia
