HSU and Regional Tsunami Preparedness Tests on March 25

March 23, 2015

As part of Tsunami Preparedness Week, March 22-28, Humboldt State University will be conducting tsunami emergency tests on Wednesday, March 25. The campus tests will coincide with regional tests.

Here’s what to expect:

·      Starting at 11 a.m., HSU will activate its emergency notification systems on campus. These include notice on the HSU Homepage, information on 826-INFO and KHSU 90.5 FM, emails, text messages to registered cell phones, loudspeaker alerts, and sandwich boards at prominent locations around campus.

·      Throughout the region, a variety of other tests will be underway, including broadcast TV and radio announcements, as well as outdoor sirens.

Please note these tests are drills only. There will be no evacuations. You do NOT need to take any action, and you should NOT call 911 or authorities.

Be prepared! Know if you are in a tsunami zone where you live, work, play, and travel. If you hear official warnings of a tsunami, or if you feel a long earthquake, get away from the beach and out of harbor areas.
