HELP HSU IN THE OUTDOOR NATION COMPETITION

September 1, 2016

In the coming weeks, Humboldt State University will be participating in the national Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge. A number of campus units are working on this effort, and encourage you to participate by registering and logging your activity.

This national competition for the title of “National Outdoor Champion,” involving more than 90 schools, is scheduled to run Sept. 4 through Oct. 15. It will include prizes from sponsors such as North Face, REI, Chaco, and Adidas Outdoor, as well as from community donors.

Everyone – including students, faculty, staff, and others who feel connected to HSU - is welcome to participate. The more participants, the greater chance of HSU winning.

Outdoor Nation is a non-profit project designed to encourage Millennials to reconnect with the outdoors, inspire environmental stewardship, and increase physical activity levels.

The goal of participating this year is to help the HSU community develop an even greater appreciation for the outdoors, feel more connected to the Humboldt area and the campus, and foster stewardship of the environment.  The competition can empower students and foster their connection to the outdoors.  At HSU, the outdoors is for every student from every background, and this effort can be part of changing the conversation about the outdoors to include a more diverse population.

To participate and qualify for prizes, download the app on iTunes or Google Play, or sign up online. Then log your activity. For more information, visit the HSU Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge website, or contact Marketing & Communications at 826-3321 or Center Activities at 826-3357.
