Exploring Danza Azteca and Mexika culture hosted by MCC

April 23, 2014

The Danza Azteca club "Chicauhcah Tlauh Cuahuitl"  invites you to join them in practicing the ancient tradition of Danza Azteca which has been preserved by the living ancestors of the Mexika. To honor the Redwood Trees our region,  Chicauhcah Tlauh Cuahuitl means Strong Red Tree in Nahuatl, a native language of Mesoamerica. Through dance and song the Danza Azteca club follows the ceremonial traditions passed on by the club founder Emanuel Delgado whose family has been keeping danza alive for generations. Despite the brutally violent history of oppression that indigenous peoples have experienced, Danza Azteca is alive and thriving all over CA and the U.S.. We are honored to share this with our community and families here in Humboldt. Chicauhcah Tlauh Cuahuitl is cross cultural group open to all races, ages and genders and community members.
