Do Your Summer and Fall Course Materials Meet Accessibility Requirements?

April 12, 2019

Now, before the end-of-semester rush, is an excellent time to confirm all your summer session materials will be accessible to all your students. The Accessible Resources Center (ARC) is here to help you ensure all your PDFs, Word documents, videos, and more meet accessibility requirements, including scanning existing hard copy materials. If you're not sure whether your materials are accessible, ARC is happy to evaluate them for you.

And if you'll be teaching in the fall, why not plan ahead to avoid the August rush and provide ARC with your fall materials for processing over the summer? Even if you haven't yet confirmed everything, we can still check them out for accessibility ahead of time.

ARC has an administrative role in Canvas, so you don't need to do a thing. Once the materials have been rendered accessible, they can simply be uploaded to Canvas for you. If you're not using Canvas, a shared Google Drive folder will work just as well.

Remember, you are required BY LAW to provide accessible materials to all disabled students, and disabled students are not required to identify themselves to you. So please contact ARC to ensure your materials are accessible and compliant for all your students.
