Commencement Pins for HSU Student Researchers

May 13, 2019

Celebrate student research and highlight your scholarly achievements with a Commencement pin! Stop by the HSU Sponsored Programs Foundation (SBS Room 427, 4th floor) this week to pick up a pin before graduation.

Did you know that we have HSU students serving on the SPF Board of Directors?

Student Directors are nominated through Associated Students and serve two-year terms on our Board. One such student, Claudia Sifuentes (Social Work major and Research Assistant in the Social Work Department) currently serves as one of our Student Board Directors.

This past spring, Claudia suggested we find a way to recognize our HSU student researchers as they walk across the stage at Commencement. Her idea to celebrate the contributions of student researchers and highlight their achievements inspired us to create Commencement pins!

We celebrate opportunities that allow students to develop mentorships with our faculty and gain hands-on research experience at HSU. What a great way to honor those achievements by proudly declaring themselves a ‘HSU Student Researcher' as they walk across the stage. We encourage you to stop by our office to pick up pins for yourself or for your graduating seniors. Thank you, Claudia, for your recommendation and we wish all our graduating students success after graduation!

Interested in serving on the Board next year?

The HSU Sponsored Programs Foundation currently has two seats available for Student Board Members (1 undergraduate & 1 graduate student) starting fall 2019.

Ideally, we would like to recruit student researchers who have experience working with faculty on funded research projects. It is a great addition to their resume, and students have an opportunity to help shape the direction of research at HSU.

Interested students can apply here. Associate Students will then schedule an interview once they verify eligibility. For more information please call (707) 826-5159.
