CHANGES TO CHROME BROWSER

August 31, 2015

Effective early September, the Chrome browser will no longer support a number of commonly used plugins, including Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Java, and Silverlight. If you're a Chrome user, this will mean you’ll need to do a few things a little differently, including:

  • PDF files will no longer open automatically in the Chrome browser, so ITS has come up with a simple workaround - see https://www.humboldt.edu/its/pdf-files-chrome.
  • Nolij and other web applications that use Java will need to be accessed using a different browser; Firefox is recommended for Nolij
  • myApps and other web applications that use Silverlight will need to be accessed using a different browser

If you encounter other HSU web applications that no longer work as expected with Chrome, please try a different browser before contacting the Help Desk.
