Changes to the Center for International Programs

April 10, 2018

Dear Campus Colleagues,

As outlined in the 2018-2019 Budget Plan, the Center for International Programs (CIP) has undergone a reorganization.  This reorganization will conserve resources and allow CIP to continue to provide important international services to faculty, staff and students.

The Center for International Programs will now be staffed by three experienced individuals: Ms. Megan Mefford (international admissions and immigration), Ms. Emily Kirsch (study abroad and partnerships), and Ms. Leslie Anderson (administrative coordination).  In early June, CIP staff will relocate to the College of Extended Education and Global Engagement office in the Student and Business Services building.  CIP will remain dedicated to provide the following services:

  • Study abroad experience for students
  • Tracking international travel abroad, for students, faculty and staff
  • International student admissions to HSU
  • Immigration advising for students, faculty and staff
  • Development and maintenance of international partnerships
  • Serve as the primary contact for international engagement across campus

In addition, the CIP will continue to work with the International Advisory Committee to promote strategic international initiatives for campus.  However, the International English Language Institute (IELI), which provides English as a second language (ESL) instruction and services to non-matriculated international students, will close at the end of July.  Student demand for ILEI programming has declined over the past 5 years to the point that the program is no longer sustainable.

The Center for International Programs remains firmly committed to attracting and supporting international students for academic study, and providing rich study abroad experiences for our students.  The CIP will partner with other units as much as possible to ensure the highest level of service to our campus community.  The main telephone number (707/826-4142), email address, and website for CIP will remain the same.
