Cal State Apply Will Replace CSU Mentor Soon!

June 30, 2017

Effective immediately, all applicants to the CSU will use the new Cal State Apply site. Benefits include the ability for some applicants to upload required documents as well as behind-the-scenes potential for early review. We are currently testing and building the Spring 2018 application, which will go live August 1, 2017.

The HSU project team has been working with the Chancellor's Office (CO), their vendor, Liaison International, and the other CSUs over the Spring term to test and submit fixes before the launch. As you would expect, Cal State Apply collects basic student information as well as academic history, but what is exciting is the new ability to ask program-specific questions, which will be especially useful in graduate applications. The student experience will be similar to CSU Mentor but with more detailed academic history and course information.

Over the next several months, a number of departments will be building this application to gather the necessary information and provide applicants with a platform to submit their documents alongside their application. This will help streamline application review in many cases.

New processes are being identified as we continue to test, including the need to submit approved changes for existing and newly created HSU programs to the Chancellor’s Office three to four months before the program opening date to ensure posting to Cal State Apply. As new functionality is deployed, business processes will be adjusted accordingly; for ongoing updates, please see the project portfolio page
