Armchair Traveler: Visit Bhutan

February 5, 2015

Have you ever wondered what it is like to visit the beautiful Kingdom of Bhutan?  Come and listen to a presentation from someone who has had the privilege of visiting the Kingdom three times....and plans to go back as often as possible!  Bhutan is a unique country tucked in the high valleys of the Himalayas.  The Bhutanese are predominantly Buddhist and are fiercely traditional; they are required to wear traditional dress to work and when visiting temples, the weaving of the women's costumes is still carried out on backstrap looms using traditional designed remembered down through families for years, and the food is generally very spicy and served with plenty of rice.  The Kingdom recently became a democracy and is sailing elegantly and peacefully through this phenomenal change.  You'll be entranced!  Join Penelope Shaw on February 23 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm in K106.
