Admissions Workflow Automation is All Systems Go

September 6, 2013

This project began back in December 2011 as a way to provide a faster decision turnaround time for prospective students, eliminating the delays introduced by the need to request information from multiple sources. In June 2012, admissions processes for International, EOP and Graduate students were added to the project, providing the opportunity to standardize admissions processes across multiple departments. As of the Fall 2014 admissions cycle, which begins in October 2013, the process will be entirely paperless; Admissions is so confident in the system’s capabilities that a parallel paper-based system is not felt to be necessary. In fact, the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, and Academic Departments have already leveraged the results of this project to use Nolij as an electronic filing cabinet for post-admissions processes. Discussions are now under way between the Registrar and the Enrollment Management Workgroup to apply a similar process to the Graduation Roadmap. • We accomplished much more that we set out to do, and more than Nolij was expected to handle • We achieved a better understanding of how other departments work, particularly those that interacted with each other • We maintained a high level of communication throughout the process, with weekly check-in meetings, email distribution list, group working sessions, and individual department working sessions. • Every team member followed through on their commitment to be flexible and work towards creative solutions Particular kudos to Gary Noar and Dale Sanford for their stellar contributions to this project.
