2nd Annual Marine Student Research Symposium - May 7

April 22, 2016
Hello MCSI Faculty!

The Marine Science Student Association is holding its Second Annual student research symposium on Saturday, May 7 from 12-5 at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center in Eureka. The goal of the symposium is to showcase marine-related research across disciplines, and provide a venue for students to practice giving talks. Entrance to the event is restricted to students to facilitate a low-pressure atmosphere and encourage communication about the research between students, making it a very comfortable place for a student to give their first conference-style talk, or present on new/in-progress work.

I'd really appreciate it if you'd pass this email on to your students, and encourage them to present or attend. The event is free and there will be food provided.

Abstracts for 12 minute talks or posters are due by 11:59PM on Tuesday, April 26th. There is time for about a dozen talks, and strong preference will be given to early submissions.

Any questions can be directed to the MSSA at marinescience@humboldt.edu, and a flyer is attached. The symposium was a resounding success last year and I thank you in advance for your help in assuring it is again this year!

Cheers,
Ian Kelmartin
