Henry Troemner Company

The images and catalog descriptions are scanned from catalogs in the curator's collection. In each case an effort has been made to scan all of the balances of a given manufacturer in the catalog. It should be noted. however, that the distributors generally show only a selection of balances from any one manufacturer. Catalogs are selected from the curator's collection at approximately ten year intervals, when available, with a second criteria being representation of the specific manufacturer.

A Note on Dating

Catalog images are of mixed value in dating objects because the same engravings are often used over a long time period, particularly if no major change is made in function or design. As an example, the two catalog images below are obviously from the same original engraving, but are from catalogs published 46 years apart (1903 and 1949). I do not know if the weights remained identical over this time period, but I have seen other examples where minor design chnages have occured while the catalog image remains the same.
