The images and catalog descriptions are scanned from catalogs in the curator's collection. In each case an effort has been made to scan all of the balances of a given manufacturer in the catalog. It should be noted. however, that the distributors generally show only a selection of balances from any one manufacturer. Catalogs are selected from the curator's collection at approximately ten year intervals, when available, with additional criteria being representation of the specific manufacturer and/or significant design/model changes. An E. Mettler brochure of c. 1950 notes that Mettler balances are distributed in the U.S.A. and Canada by the Fisher Scientific Company and by Eimer and Amend under the trade name "Grammatic." The 1958 Fisher catalog (the earliest in my collection having Mettler balances) was thus included to represent this early distribution.
