You should be able to do the following kinds of things:

1. Describe the various ideas that have been put forward concerning the concept of the niche.

2. Describe the hypervolume model of the niche.

3. Discuss competition and character displacement in terms of the hypervolume model.

4. Distinguish between fundamental and realized niche.

5. Discuss specialization and generalization in terms of the hypervolume model.

6. Describe ways that niches evolve.
