
Sustainable Living Skills Internship Program
Located in Cottage Grove, Ore., the Aprovecho Research Center provides courses designed to teach students about how to create communities that are more sustainable and self-sufficient.
Each summer and fall, up to 14 interns join the ten staff members of the Aprovecho Research Center for an intensive learning experience.
Studies focus primarily on organic gardening, sustainable forestry, and appropriate technology with a variety of other classes on sustainable living. All classes consist of lecture and hands-on application, and typically run 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Interns live in the straw-bale dormitory or camp, and participate in the active daily life of the ecologically-oriented research and education center.
Internship dates:
Fall: Sept. 7-Oct. 30
A total of 6 units of academic credit through Humboldt State University is available for appropriate technology lecture and lab, forestry lecture and lab, and organic gardening lecture and lab offerings at Aprovecho.
