The Digital Classroom
• Programs follow the same curriculum as our campus programs.
• 15-week semesters (including summer for the MSW program), weekly lessons you can complete on your own schedule
• Engage with professors and fellow students through the use of live webcasts, chats, web tours, small group discussions, shared projects
and virtual role plays.
Local Field Placements
• Get support to find an internship placement in your own community
• Develop professional relationships and gain experience while you earn credit
• Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program stipends available for California students
Visit Campus Annually

B.A. Admission Requirements
• To be eligible to register for the junior-level courses in the
social work major, students must be admitted to Humboldt State
University and
have completed, or be in
the process of completing,
all prerequisites noted on the
Social Work Department BA Program
website and the university catalog.
• Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be fully
accepted to the program
• Complete the Social Work major application with a
personal statement and submit to the social work department
• Full acceptance into junior year coursework requires students
to meet all of the admissions standards and to submit the
formal application. Provisional status may be granted to
a student who does not meet these requirements.
MSW Admission Requirements
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited higher
education institution
• GPA of 3.0 or better on a scale of 4.0 for the last 60 hours
of course work
• Completion with a grade of “C” or better in elementary statistics
(math, psychology, sociology, or a related field)*
• Completion with a grade of “C” or better in a course related
to Native American/Indigenous Studies. This course must include a general
introduction to the history of native peoples of America and the
unique and sovereign relationship between Tribal Nations and local,
state and federal governments.
• Complete California State University (Humboldt campus) graduate
admissions application and submit to office of graduate studies.
• Complete the MSW program application and submit to HSU Social
Work Department, Master’s program admissions committee.
