Masters Degree in Social Work

Masters Degree in Social Work

The Master of Social Work (MSW) program emphasizes advanced generalist practice in rural and Native American communities. The program teaches students how to achieve a disciplined, compassionate presence to a caring and ethical practice. The MSW program at Humboldt State is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

The MSW program offers a full-time, two-year course of study and an advanced standing one-year program for candidates with an accredited undergraduate degree in social work. A 3.5 year part-time MSW program is also offered as well as a 2 year part-time advanced standing MSW program through on-line course work. For more information regarding the on-line courses of study, please visit our Distibuted Learning pages.

We have an exciting and dynamic program that we have set up to meet the professional educational needs of future social workers. Our program is an advanced generalist program that has a specific focus on social work practice within rural and Native American Communities. Please feel free to e-mail Dr. Michael Yellow Bird, the Director of the MSW program for any assistance you may need!  mswinfo@humboldt.edu
